Human Resource Officer Job Description

Role Summary 

The Human Resources Officer is part of the Operation unit of Enabling Qapital. The unit is managing around 35 headcount under 7 different jurisdictions. S/he reports to the Head of Operations and the Senior Management Team (SMT) and works in close collaboration with the regional managers in each of Enabling Qapital’s regions of operation and the head of Credit Administration. Given the geographical and cultural diversity, the position requires high ability to interact with a multi-cultural, diverse staff, located in various geographies. The Human Resource Officer’s primary responsibilities will be to lead Enabling Qapital’s people strategy and the employee life cycle to ensure we have the right people with the right skills to deliver impact through investments in Microfinance Institutions and socially-focused Small and Medium Enterprises in emerging markets. The Human Resource Officer will develop highly effective recruitment/onboarding strategies and design, with the SMT, training, performance management and compensation strategies to allow Enabling Qapital to develop and retain a World class team. S/he will work from home and/or from one of the Regional Offices in Nairobi or Bishkek and will support other regional offices in Ecuador, Pakistan, India, and Switzerland as well. Position may eventually involve some travel in the Region as necessary.

Key Responsibilities 

–  Plan, implement and manage the overall talent acquisition strategy and employee life cycle.
– Provide counseling and support on policies and procedures.
– Perform duties such as job descriptions, job posting and promotion and hiring analytics.
– Create, implement and manage onboarding plans.
– Identify KPIs and support the design of KPIs per job responsibility.
– Design and implement training programs, in collaboration with SMT.
– Assist in performance management and employee evaluation.
– Manage employee records and paperwork.
– Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations in each location where our staff is based.
– Draw up plans for future personnel hiring procedures and goals.
– Implement and manage HR software that has been chosen to be used at Enabling Qapital.
– Conduct salary benchmark with Enabling Qapital’s competition per region

Competences Required And Prior Experience

– Excellent oral and written English.
– 3 to 5 years of experience as an HR Officer or similar HR role.
– Excellent knowledge of various HR functions such as pay & benefits, recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, training & development etc.
– Good understanding of labor laws.
– Proficient in MS Office.
– Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field.
– Additional HR education and certification will be a plus.
– Experience working with a HR software a plus.
– Previous experience or exposure working in an investment management organization in HR preferred.
– Interest in impact investing, double bottom line returns and microfinance in emerging markets, developing economies and in markets in transition.
