Recently, Co-Founders and Managing Partners of EQ, Remo Oswald and Roger Müller, visited one of the microfinance institutions we collaborate with in Kenya, Premier Credit Limited. This is a credit-only microfinance institution that aims to build lasting relationships with its clients with a vision to see them achieve their aspirations. James Kinyanjui, the Regional Manager of the Nairobi North Region, and his team at the Kangemi branch described to us their day-to-day business activities and tasks, such as daily team meetings, target setting, strategic planning, and client updates.
Additionally, in order for us to get a good sense of what the actual impact of Premier’s activities on the ground is, they introduced us to two of their clients, a solopreneur that runs a butchery-cum-restaurant and a small-scale crop and livestock farmer.
We have therefore come to learn first-hand how local microfinance institutions support our end clients by providing access to financial inclusion and helping their businesses grow. That said, the careful selection of microfinance institutions is one of the most relevant steps for our Enabling Microfinance Fund to #movingmoneytomeaning.
Together we work towards EQs vision: “A world where investment empowers people and embraces the planet.”
