Duties of work?

Working with the team to source, underwrite and monitor investments in Africa. I will focus on companies operating in the clean cooking ecosystem (manufacturers, distributors, MFIs, and various renewable energy companies), as well as the microfinance sector more broadly.

The people and the subject matter. EQ has assembled a market leading team of impact investment professionals. It also has a very impressive track record in microfinance investing. I appreciate that EQ has a vision to grow its AUM, including though expansion to relevant, high potential sectors like clean cooking.

What’s the most exciting part of your job?

Visiting an investee’s operations to see how the invested capital is put to work. I also love analysis and solving problems.

What motivates you at work?

Interacting with pipeline and portfolio companies based on mutual understanding and respect. I really appreciate learning directly from the source. I also am energized by knowledge exchange with peers and colleagues.

Do you have Family?

I have been married for 12 years and I am kept on my toes by my 8-year-old twin sons.

What’s a favorite activity outside of work that leaves you feeling energized?

I enjoy running whenever I can. It brings clarity and peace.
